Don't merge this branch, a less intrusive approach was pushed to master. Commit ac6f8bc92b1abe995694602f43d8ad108b7030fb was inspired by the work done in this branch, but used a less intrusive & safer approach. This branch is still kept in the repo for historical reasons, but probably can be removed soon. Change-Id: I75ced30052b60d26d38d81a3aeb296a9dcd690c1
